I love macro photography and those “private” moments in nature or exploring the landscape around me. Here are some of the favorite captures from over the years.
Travel and Being In the Moment
My husband and I love travel and lead tours so that others can see the world in all new ways. Many of these photos are from hikes right where we live or on our travels to the United Kingdom and Ireland. My Study in Water
Water is sacred. It is the blood of Mother Earth and I always love a walk through nature in the early morning or fresh after a rain.

Gikinawaabi means, to learn through observation, in the Ojibwe language. I have always loved writing, drawing, painting and crafting. I love the colors and how the images take shape or change through the color. The style of beading here is called applique beading and is very popular amongst my Native friends and family. These are a few more recent pieces. Below is a mural I painted on one of the outdoor shanties that my husband built for outdoor seating at our restaurant.

Michelle is an Anishinaabe Native American artist and citizen of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewas. She is a self taught artist whose work ranges from writing, photography, pen and ink to Native American style beadwork and sewing. Each type of media is an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of words, express concepts of culture, and share ideas on a more spiritual and emotional level.
Recently Michelle was honored to participate in the Leland Consenses Walk, essentially, an artist’s game of telephone. Here the poem inspired through that project, founded by Sally Taylor.
